Human Rights Encyclopedia: About Us

Under the stewardship of the Human Experience Coalition (part of the Digital Universe project), the Human Rights Website is the first of a series of authoritative websites focused on the human condition. With an impressive list of advisors, The Human Rights Website promises to be one of the most universal and authoritative sources of information related to human rights. The Human Experience Coalition intends to establish this website as the most credible, dynamic and interactive center of gravity on the Web for people interested in engaging human rights issues.

When fully populated, this website will feature a highly credible and accessible encyclopedia of articles, an innovative and forward-thinking news service, fully integrated with a user-friendly social networking platform to facilitate user-generated content pages, discussions, problem-solving tools, and grassroots, democratic activism. Meaningful outreach programs coordinated with strategic partners and experts will be employed to educate and engage the many diverse communities around the world affected by and concerned with human rights.

By uniting human rights groups as never before and encouraging individuals to come together through self-organizing communities, the Human Rights Website will bring us closer to creating a world where human rights violations are the exception rather than the status quo. A high-quality Internet destination governed by many of the most respected human rights leaders in the world is a necessary foundation to organize a worldwide community of citizens, constituents, organizations, and leaders. The lack of institutional branding of the Website – that is, not being branded or “owned” by any one institution but rather by all of them – is one of the key innovations that will catalyze the success of this effort.
