Little Cottonwood Canyon is located at the mid-SouthEast portion of Salt Lake County, Utah.
The Canyon runs generally West to East,
rising about 5,000 feet from the canyon-mouth to the Town of Alta,
with peaks in the 11,000 foot range.
At last count, there were about 375 permanent residents in the Town of Alta proper, with others located elsewhere in the canyon.
