On October 11th, SVUUS members and community supporters braved the cold, wet Otober chill and an impending snow storm to celebrate the beginning of construction for South Valley's welcoming building. As we gathered to the cheerful beat of accordian musc, kids and adults hunted for treasure in a no-peeking feel-the-texture box, added a rainbow of hands and signatures to our welcoming banner, and toured the beginnings of restroom construction already underway.

As noon approached, we journeyed outside and gathered at the site of our future elevator shaft. Stories were briefly shared, reminding us all of thechallenges our building has presentedinjob searches, program access,worshipand community involvement.

Many took a turn at the shovel. All owned the moment. Everyone was warmed by our declaration, now backed by action, that South Valley is a community that welcomes everyone ...no matter your ability.
