Our Dream is Becoming Reality!
Construction: For many years, having great access to all of our programs was little more than a “someday” dream. Today, our Welcoming Building is nearing completion! Our new, fully accessible restroom is open, complete with golden plunger! Our building’s exterior is taking on a delightful new look as the elevator shaft rises to the sky. In February, SVUUSers got to witness firsthand the installation of our new elevator. Ribbon cutting and first rides will follow in March.
Campaign Progress: The campaign to support our Welcoming Building set an audacious goal – to raise $120,000 in just five months. Unheard of! Amazingly, we nearly did it! More than $105,000 was raised from congregants, family members and friends. These “individual gifts” ranged from $5 to $50,000, with many pledging support through June 2010. Additionally, the project is honored to be the recipient of funds from the Mountain Desert District Chalice Lighters – a grant expected to yield between $5,000 and $8,000. Thanks to each and every one of you, we’ve raised over $110,000!
