SCALE is being offered as an open source economic solution for any local group to create a community based credit exchange for trading goods, services, time, and knowledge - without use of "public" money; and because a SCALE is the centerpiece of all Access Point (APPS), a worldwide SCALE network is guaranteed to develop.
|
This system allows people to exchange (recycle) clothes, toys, gadgets, coupons and more using “community credit” to get things they need; thereby decreasing the amount of “public money” one must earn to meet their family or individual needs. Through our global Access Points project, any local SCALE will be able to trade with others SCLAE communites from across the world. In the most impoverished regions, the earned wealth from Internet use of but one child using the FDU economic system (at a Access Point) can now be imported into their local community currency and thereby be exchanged for local farmer’s food. The farmer will never use a computer, nor will the dressmaker he gets dresses from with his new SCALE community credits, the dressmaker uses the credits to get pottery, the potter uses it to get food, and so on – only a few need to use the system to import free circulating wealth into a SCALE empowered community. This is particularly important in developing nations where people have one of two choices for developing out of poverty; information wealth, or wealth from harvesting more natural resources. One purpose of SCALE as a Open Source Solution is to connect SCALEs in the developing world with those created in the 1st world by individuals such as your-self. Creating a SCALE is easy, it has two parts: 1. Legal Structure: Create a Social Cooperative or Mutual Benefit Association Charter so people can contract in as members. Members agree to use the Cooperative Credits (currency) under the agreements of membership. A community may call there currency aything they wish, and devise their own rules relative to their local culture or beliefs. *A sample Word Doc file of a SCALE Charter will be attached to this page shortly. 2. Physical Structure: A local place for drop off of goods, with a trusted staff working under the Associations rules, is the 2nd step. We have found local churches starting the association as a inter-faith project with complimenting educational opportunities is the best approach. In many ways, a SCALE is a bigger version of a clothing exchange you might find at any community center or church, instead of issuing tickets for clothes or items put in to balance what goes out, we use digital credits. A SCALE leverages the potentials of the Information Age. The legal structure for a social cooperative, and the credit accounting system options may be obtained through Peace Portal; the physical location you and your staff will need to work out. Complimentary Projects: 1. SAFE – Sustainable Alternative Farming Experience: SAFE provides a place in local communities where people may participate hands on in planting of trees and growing of gardens that demonstrate ecologically self-sustainable techniques or practices. Community gardens are funded by the participants own tax-deductible donations, thereby directing taxes from federal direction to local use. If a SCALE and a SAFE get together, they can create a farm cooperative that provides the SCALE with food items.
3. Prosperity Project: Through this project globalization is addressed by empowering Internet users who have no credit card or access to the digital marketplace to start participating, by earning purchasing power in a private economy. Access Points provide computers, a SCALE, educational training by MadeByKids Foundation, and other services as appropriate to a particular geographic location. "We are asking for the opportunity to compete, to sell our goods in global markets; in short we want to trade our way out of poverty." ~ Pres. of Uganda

Response video to Make Poverty History featuring Bono.
Looks at the Peace Portal & Free Digital Universe model for a on-line equal human rights forum, individual earning tool, and charity fund raiser for easing the transition to the Information Age. It purposes that the poor can earn their way out of poverty through accessing the global knowledge marketplace of cyberspace by publishing music, art, literature, or consulting, affiliate marketing, auctioning Peer-to-peer products.
Blessings My Dear Friends, An association of entities at PeacePortal have a plan for holistically addressing the greatest challenges of our day: environmental decay, lack of human rights, poverty, lack of wage earning jobs, and transitioning through to the Information Age. Making such a claim sounds ridiculous, nonetheless we believe that by addressing the Root Cause of all the above listed "effects;" We think we know what it is. And how to respond.
The Industrial Age economic model creates money out of thin air and requires the living people and the Earth pay the bill in labor and natures resources. When peoples labor pays the bill a debt crisisis eventually created with poverty the inevitable result; when nature pays the bill the environment is damaged.
Only a few hundred years old, this economic model based on competiton and conflict has left our children a legacy of debt and a withering planetary environment.
| “According to UNICEF, 30,000 children under the age of five die each day due to poverty. That is about 210,000 children each week.” |
| The developing world now spends $13 on debt repayment for every $1 it receives in grants.” ~ Global Development Finance, World Bank, |
An analysis of long term economics shows how the distance between the richest and poorest countries grew during the Industrial Age:
1. 3 to 1 in 1820
2. 11 to 1 in 1913
3. 35 to 1 in 1950
4. 44 to 1 in 1973
5. 72 to 1 in 1992
"What an astounding thing it is to watch a civilization destroy its self because it is unable to re-examine the validity, under totally new circumstances, of an economic ideology." ~ Sir James Goldsmith
Information Age tools can relieve pressure on people and the environment. Achieving this goal will require a common global community where even the poor can access digital wealth using a free peer to peer Information Age economic system where "value" is created from human elements of creativity (music, words, art) rather than natural resources. A equal system where one can shoot an animal video instead of an animal, and provide wealth for their family earned by digital sales to a global audience. Prosperity Program in conjunction with Peace Portal Humanitarian Trust, and the FDU can meet this bold goal.
"If the Internet is going to become the engine of global commerce it's cracked up to be, it needs a currency it can call its own - a currency as nonproprietary and international as the Internet itself." ~ Wired
Our goal is to expand economic opportunity by connecting projects which bring Access, Markets, and Community to those in need. Prosperity Program is designed to expand opportunity for those in, or at risk of, persistent poverty via programs that: increase income security, help people connect to the globalized information age labor market, protect their earnings from theft, and enable them to advance into a more sustainable lifestyle.
Escaping persistent poverty is a daunting challenge, particularly those in third world countries where government assistance is essentially impossible. It is private non-profit groups which provide the majority of services to the most impoverished people.
Our Project, collectively the Free Digital Project, is organized as a private Association of Charities, NGO’s, Corporations, Trusts, and Interfaith Organizations dedicated to stewarding a sustainable future.
At the heart of our project is a sustainable means for the emerging markets to develop out of poverty (see Attachment - SMB Summary) without further harming the planetary eco-system; this is done through leveraging Information Age technologies that deliver access to education, creation of digital wealth that does not take from the environment, and outreach support through charities and missionaries.
In order to fully address the needs of people in a globalized inter-dependent world, without prejudice to any groups of people, will require the cooperation of multiple organizations from each of the three jurisdictions listed here:
1) Commercial “For Profit” jurisdiction of commerce conducted mainly by corporations who serve shareholders
2) Commercial “Non profit” charities, NGOs, Trusts and the like structured to serve beneficiaries, a certain group, or sector
3) “NON-Commercial” associations such as Interfaith Missionary groups, Church and Ministry outreach, private associations, and other legal entities structured to serve all of humanity irrespective of class, gender, age, or nationality.
Our Project combines over 100 organizations from all three of the above-described jurisdictions through a network of private associations, private contracts, agreements, covenants and/or Treaties that collectively establish a system where everyone wins more by cooperating than competing.
In this community we know that consciousness is the most fundamental underlying cause of the effects we experience as everyday reality, it is therefore ultimately through consciousness that the world will change for the better; become more aware, sustainable, free, and prosperous. But to effect that change requires coordinated efforts and understanding of the "whole" Self, at all dimensional levels, not just the spiritual (consciousness) aspect. We also need a plan that works in harmony with our physical dimension (natural resources & peoples labor), Mental (fears - of violence, lack, etc..) and e-motional (money/energy) dimensions. For that reason, our system is being launched as a Spiritual Game played in Cyber-Space.
The Free Digital Universe (FDU) is a non-violent Virtual World that serves as a Charitable Fundraiser, social forum, and personal wealth empowerment tool for transitioning in prosperityto the Information Age. Websites from an association of charities, non-governmental organizations, and corporations have been combined together to create a unified global platform where Users are recognized as equal Sovereign Living Beings with intrinsic Human Rights. Inside the FDU, Players interact as equals through digital re-presentations of their self using an Avatar, called a "Sovereign Digital Soule." Each Avatar is empowered as a equal co-creator of this virtual universe.
FDU was created by a group of Un-incorporated Ministries, AUM (Association of Unincorporated Ministries), and is maintained by Foundations, and other participants in the FDU Management Association.

*Free Digital University is a subset of the Free Digital Project, dedicated to using Information Age tools to address the damage caused by the Industrial Age.
We must evolve to an Information Age socio-economic model for our future, and act responsibly to clean-up our mess if we wish to alleviate the problems caused by the the Industrial Age economy. This will not happen over-night, nor should it, our Plans and Projects are designed to ease the transition pains for humanity while relieving pressure on our environment using a Three Phase Plan.

Phase 1: Plan-ItIdentify causes and solutions, participants, and protocals
Phase 2: Plant-ItImplements solutions identified in phase one
Phase 3: PlanetIntegrate solutionsover a global network
Implementing a Global Information Age solution will take approximately one generation, it is happening already and will happen irrespective of our efforts to direct this change in such a way as to also address poverty, freedom, and environment in coordinated synergy.
Dedicated to Johnnie,
The Legend of the Eagle may be a myth, but it is one that gives insight.
Many times in our own lives, we also have to face hard decisions that lead us to the need of a rebirth process.
To embrace challenges and changes is never an easy assignment.

Sometimes we have to learn how to detach ourselves of traditions, concepts, addictions and old costumes.
