Mission Statement

The mission of the Digital Universe is to provide accurate, unbiased information covering all aspects of human knowledge, and to inspire people to learn, make use of, and expand this knowledge through creation of a network of websites that “mirror the world around us" and are stewarded by experts.

Goals and Objectives

The Digital Universe Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity, established in 2004. The people working on the Digital Universe are motivated by a desire to help advance humankind by improving everyone's access to, interest in, and inspiration from accurate and unbiased knowledge. This is done by:

1. Creation of a network of trusted websites and links to the larger Web, built by experts;
2. Development of a pioneering user interface to explore and discover information, organized like a “mirror of the world around us,” making it simple to navigate millions of Web sites;
3. Establishment of a financial model designed to fund the entire ecosystem of contributors involved in both technology and content development; and
4. Governance by non-profit institutions, thus respecting the ethics of academic experts and ordinary users, and earning their trust to a unique degree among Internet media.

The Digital Universe Foundation envisions a world where humanity’s expanding knowledge and culture is accessible to all -- where interested citizens can converse with experts -- where researchers, educators, artists, students and citizens can work together to create, take action and excel.
