Return from Italy

A supernova explodes
in an unsightly universe.
A baby cries unceasingly
while the jet hurtles on.
Appearances are everything
in a land of devices.
I cannot make the transition,
while suspended in mid-air.
Hard to picture a return
to life as it was before.
Caught between dual worlds
of destiny and free fall.
